In this training you will complete the following objectives: • Understand Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) • Reduce the risks of SUID • Understand Safe Sleep practices • Implement the ABCs of Safe Sleep • Advocate for Safe Sleep practices with the families you serve • Create a Safe Sleep Policy for your program • Define Abusive Head Trauma •Recognize the symptoms and consequences of abusive head trauma • Examine why a baby does and SHOULD cry • Develop strategies to handle frustration with a child in your care • Define child abuse and neglect • Identify characteristics of child abuse and neglect • Explore cultural practices •Strengthen communication skills with families •Know when and how to report suspected child abuse and neglect
