Thank you for registering for the Fruits & Vegetables in the CACFP training.

This project was developed in accordance with the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).Links to an external site. This course is intended to provide supplemental training for childcare providers who participate in CACFP.

This Course Will:

  • Help ensure that the CACFP meal pattern requirements for the fruit and vegetable components are met
  • Describe the nutrients found in fruits and vegetables
  • Explain the benefits that fruits and vegetables provide
  • Identify common fruits and vegetables

Participants Should Understand: 

  • All fruits have seeds inside of them and vegetables are the roots, bulbs or leaves of plants
  • Fruits and vegetables can be prepared and eaten in a variety of ways – juices, sauces, cooked, raw, and with other foods
  • Children need two to three servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables each day
