Course Description
This course equips learners with the skills and knowledge to create accessible digital content that meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards and upcoming compliance deadlines. Participants will explore the principles of digital accessibility, including the POUR framework, and learn practical strategies for designing inclusive documents, and presentations. Through hands-on instruction in Canvas, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office, learners will develop, evaluate, and improve content to ensure it is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. By the end of the course, participants will be able to confidently produce accessible materials and apply best practices across a variety of digital platforms.
- Intended Audience: This course is intended for classroom educators, office staff, and district and building administrators.
- Technical Requirements: To participate in this course, you will need a computer, laptop, or tablet with internet access and a modern web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, or Edge). A stable internet connection is recommended for smooth access to course materials.
- Time Commitment: Uninterrupted, you should plan to spend approximately 5 - 7 hours to complete the course. However, you may choose to spread out your learning as long as you'd like.
- Certificate Attainment: A certificate of completion will be provided for users who complete the all learning pages in the course but the detailed videos are optional depending on what software you use most. Users must also pass the required final assessment at the end of the course and score at least a 70%, the assessment can be retaken as needed to get the required score.
