HIPAA, COPPA & FERPA for Educators
Started Jul 1, 2021
Full course description
This course is recommended for K - 12 school and district educators. HIPAA, COPPA and FERPA are federal laws that protect the personal data of minors and, in the case of HIPAA, health information. Our goal is to make these laws clear and accessible to the educators whose responsibility it is to protect students while they create instruction in an increasingly complex and digital environment.
Introduction to HIPAA, COPPA & FERPA for Educators is FREE, and there are no prerequisites.
This course will walk you through the often confusing but crucial topics of personal data and information of the students/minors to whom you've been entrusted. The course takes place in the online classroom for professional development of the Nebraska Department of Education Canvas Course Commons.
