Full course description
Do you know how to reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), prevent accidental suffocation, or the safest way to put a baby to sleep? Are you aware that everyone is at risk of shaking a child — and that abusive head trauma is one childhood injury that is entirely preventable? Do you know how to recognize child abuse and neglect, make a report, and take steps to strengthen families in your care?
Anyone who cares for babies and young children should know these critical safety skills.
This four-hour training covers three critical topics for child care providers. You will learn the best safe sleep practices to protect infants from SUID and accidental suffocation, understand the serious and lasting consequences of shaking a child — including brain damage, life-changing disabilities, and death — and gain the knowledge and tools needed to recognize child abuse and neglect, make a report, support families, and prevent abuse within your own child care program.
This eLearning training covers the same material as the in-person and Zoom versions of Safe With You. Live versions of this training, as well as a separate child abuse and reporting training for school age providers may be found on the NECPRS public training calendar.
This training was developed by the Early Childhood Training Center and meets the requirements of Nebraska State Statute 43-2606.
